Clear the Beds

Staffing Setup gets the floor ready. Now there's a next step — walk every patient already in the ED to a decision before the casualties start arriving.

Staffing Setup buys you a floor that’s ready. Bed Clearing is what you do with the time that’s left: walk the patients already in the ED and make a call on each one before the first casualty shows up.

It’s the fourth and final step in the Major Incident Protocol checklist, unlocked once staffing is done. Nothing about the board changes to get you there — every patient is still exactly where they were, and the same Admit and Discharge actions you already use are what you use here too. No new screens, no new mechanics.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Nothing is forced — review as many patients as you have time for. Admit, discharge, or leave someone in place; there’s no requirement to clear every bed.
  • The clock keeps running — same as every other protocol step, this isn’t a pause.
  • It’s the last step — once you open Bed Clearing, the full-screen protocol prompt is done reappearing. You’re back to a normal board, casualties inbound.

The whole protocol — Alert, Manager Notification, Staffing Setup, Bed Clearing — now walks you through in order as an unmissable full-screen prompt instead of a checklist tucked away in the Messages sidebar. Skip a step, and the next one simply won’t open.
